“Preach My Gospel”

This is what the voice told me.

I have been dealing with fear over being more open about my faith, largely because of the state our country is in and how much more risky it has become to be passionate about our beliefs.

While it is not an irrational fear, it is something that should not paralyze us with fear.

Shutting Up the Divine

“The Divine does not like to be shut up in a building. The Divine likes to be out in the open.” – Morihei Ueshiba

This quote is from the founder of Aikido, a non-resistant martial arts form that teaches redirection rather than self-defense, wearing an opponent down instead of injuring them.

Morihei also believed that the Divine, the God of Peace, lives in each and every one of us and that each of us is a temple, a shrine, for the Divine and we are to train to reflect the Divine in this world.

Sound familiar?

“Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19

However, one of the biggest faults that Morihei felt was being committed by religious institutions of his day was shutting up the Divine in a building.

This is a serious fault in our churches today.
