There is something I must say. As a man who has walked this road before, like many men before me have and many men after me will, this must be said.
I am appalled at the lack of teachings in churches regarding sexual immorality. I know of young men and women, professing faith in Christ and participants in many facets of their local churches and youth groups, who are engaging in sexual behavior off of church property, most commonly among each other, if not with their non-believing friends.
I tell you this, it must not be so!
Church, why are we so afraid to teach our youth about sexual immorality and purity? Why are we so afraid to cross that line?
Scripture is very clear: “But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.” (Eph. 5:3) Some translations read that there should be “not even a hint” of sexual immorality.
In other words, sexual immorality should be avoided.
I will define sexual immorality: any sexual act outside of marriage or betrothed (engaged) couples. (That is my definition, not the Lord’s. Take it or leave it).
So, if you are not married to that person, nor plan on marrying that person, WHY ARE YOU HAVING SEX WITH THEM?
Answer that for me? Why are you having sex with them?
Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthians, puts it this way: “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!” (1 Corinthians 6:15)
Plain and simple: NEVER!
Not even a hint.
Keep this in mind, friends. When you, who claim to be a Christian, who claim Christ as your personal Savior, indulge in sexual immorality, you are defiling the temple in which God, in the form of the Holy Spirit, resides. You were bought at a price. You are not your own. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
So, run from sexual immorality! If you claim to be a Christian yet indulge in these acts, I will ask you one thing: stop calling yourself a Christian, a follower of Christ. If you do not follow His laws and obey the teachings on sexual purity, then remove the name “Christian” from your list of identifiers, for you are no Christian, but a whore who uses God like a genie, only going to Him when you need something.
This was strong, yes, but necessary.
Reclaim the faith!
