Justice for all?

So, as you all most likely know, on Saturday, July 13, 2013, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murder.

As far as I was able to discover, Mr. Zimmerman shot a 17-year old boy who was in Mr. Zimmerman’s neighborhood. Now, the prosecution claimed that Mr. Zimmerman intentionally murdered the young man, taking the law into his own hands, supposing him to be a burglar. The defense stated that Mr. Zimmerman acted in self-defense, claiming the young man brutally assaulted Mr. Zimmerman, causing him to fire his weapon to protect himself.

Now, I have no idea what actually happened the night Mr. Zimmerman shot that 17-year old boy, but honestly, I don’t really care.

The justice system we have here in America and in this world is corrupt. That’s just the way things are.

Here’s the deal, tough. I’m seeing all over Facebook and Twitter about how the verdict was unfair and that Mr. Zimmerman should go to prison for shooting that young man. But guess what, people? That’s not your decision!

You have absolutely no idea what happened the night the young man was shot. Maybe it was self-defense. Maybe it was cold-blooded murder. Who really knows? You don’t!

So, before you start to decide who should and should not go to jail based off of facts you hear from a prosecutor who’s job it is make the defendant look bad/guilty and a defense attorney who’s job it is to make their client look good, think about the fact that you weren’t there when the crime was committed. You have no idea what went down that led to this person’s arrest and trial. You are just taking information from third (sometimes fourth) parties who’s job it is to twist the facts.

This justice system sucks. People get away with things they should never get away with, all because the defense attorney managed to fool a jury. The wrong people get arrested and the law is so vague that people can be charged with a crime more serious than what they actually did because so many charges overlap in the law books.

There is no true justice in our courtrooms. I’ve seen it firsthand. I have a pretty good idea about the way the system works, and believe me, it sucks! It really does. There is no justice. Eye-witnesses are unreliable, facts can be easily twisted and people can be deceived. People get off for things that they should serve years for.

Just think about it. Before you go condemning people, remember, you don’t have all the facts. And as Christians, we should not judge anyone for anything. As Jesus said, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)

Don’t forget, you have your own problems and dirty little secrets.
